Event and streaming information

The topics for the night:

- Norway is a paradoxical country: Part of its landmass is located in the Barents Sea, warming fastest in the world, five to seven times faster than the global average. At the same time, in 2024, Norway has been the largest investor in offshore upstream oil production worldwide.

- The next hybrid webinar of Arctic Climate Action Svalbard sheds light onto these records and the role of the Norwegian people in this paradox:

- Hedda Andersen (glaciologist, guide and climate communicator) will present how the climate crisis impacts Svalbard and how it is to work outside in a rapidly changing environment.

- Julie Forchhammer (co-founder of Klimakultur) explains how the oil industry influences Norwegian culture, education and politics, leading to an escalating climate crisis in Svalbard and beyond.
